How to Prevent and Treat Overuse Injuries with Contrast Baths
As a massage therapist, I use my hands A LOT. So my friend and fellow MT, Laura, suggested we try contrast baths. Check out this video to watch us use contrast baths on our hands while we explain the benefits of it.

What is a Contrast Bath?
A contrast bath is a type of therapy involving alternating submerging the affected area in warm and ice-cold water.
You can start and end by submerging in warm water to prevent injuries. However, if you're treating an injury, start and end with ice water.
What Does a Contrast Bath Do?
Contrast baths are thought to treat swelling, stiffness, muscle spasms, and pain and may improve circulation. In addition, it may speed healing, making it an ideal therapy to treat and prevent overuse injuries.
Contrast Baths Can Be Used On:
Joint Sprains
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Muscle Strains
Carpal Tunnel
Injured Tendons and Ligaments
Don't forget; this isn't medical advice. If you have an injury, you should see your doctor. While you're there, ask them whether a contrast bath could help with your situation.
